Final BLEACH 4th Level Secret: Yhwach’s True Identity Hidden under your noses

Bleach is finally coming to an end

So at the beginning of chapter 680, we get this semi colour picture of Yhwach highlighting that the end of coming to Bleach with the number of chapters remaining blurred out for effect.

.

bleach ending.png

.

Everyone was leaning to the number of remaining chapters being similar to what happened with Naruto suggesting that there will be a total of 700 chapters produced with about 20 chapters left, leaving a little bit of a cushion to deal with the blow.

What we failed to realise that we are probably closer or already past 700 with the inclusion of all the odd chapters and the Turn Back the Pendulum Mini series too.

.

bleach-t-36-turn-back-the-pendulum

.

So then Volume 73 comes out and not only do we get Renji on the cover for some strange reason,  at the end of it we get this out of the blue.

.

.

So according to the last volume, Issue 74 will be the last volume of Bleach released.

Given that this volume goes all the way up to 675, there are roughly ten chapters per volume and we were currently up to chapter 681 at this point,  so it seems Bleach is Ending at roughly Chapter 685.

That’s only 4 Chapters away *sob* Definitely a lot sooner than any of us thought and for that, I will give you all a moment to digest that information…. 😦
.

.

We all knew it was coming to an end fairly soon but not this soon?

.

How will it all end?

Personally I don’t think there is enough time to finish this all off nicely in that window.

If you compare this arc to the Deicide Arc, where were are now pretty much equates to when Ichigo and co first attacked Aizen in his cocoon form and he disappeared to Karakura town. You can compare them both for yourselves below

.

Deicide – End of chrysalis

.

.

The End

.

.

That was around Chapter 406 which was roughly 17 chapters before the conclusion to that arc. In real terms, I would say it didn’t even need to be that long because there was quite a lot of filler in those chapters as well. Still I would say 14 chapters worth of solid content.

If you compare 14 to 4, you’ll see there’s just not enough space, especially with Kubo’s slow pacing.

Even if Kubo was to do some massive chapter sizes There is just too much story to cover in that short a space of time.

An ending worthy of a series like Bleach I feel would include (but is not limited to) covering the following plot points

.

  • Yhwach’s motivation for the war in the first place
  • What really happened to Masaki on the night she was killed
  • What happened 1000 years ago
  • The Quincy Massacre and the Cause
  • Aizen’s involvement in all of this
  • The Mysteries of the Hogykou
  • Ginjou’s and Tsukishima’s Backstories
  • Kenpachi’s controlled Bankai
  • Ichigo’s true origins
  • Who are the Truebloods?
  • Yamamoto’s scar origins
  • The original Gotei 13 crew
  • A resolution to all the species in Bleach

.

I mean there’s a 100 chapters left in this story easy peasy so why end it half heartedly?

I’m not going to go into the ins and outs of who’s fault this all is and sale figures, but I will talk about the context of finishing a series like this on a whim.

Personally I don’t think it can be done, at least without Tsukishima’s influence inserting 100 chapters into the viewer’s memories, the trolling bastard.

.

.

Instead, I think its ending is going to be left open, perhaps to be completed in another format, via games, animes, databooks etc. Perhaps even a new manga line, who the hell knows…

.

Twist ending is the only viable option

The question now comes to how this will be accomplished.

What I personally think is that this current series will end on one big Kubo sized cluster fuck that none of us could have seen coming and would give the fanbase a cause to lick their lips and generate some interest in the product again before it disappears for a while.

This clusterfuck would need to be as big as when Aizen was originally noted as being a traitor to the Gotei 13.

Some would suggest something like that would be hard to pull off in this period of time But I think I have just found it and it was right under our noses the entire time.

.

4th Level Theory on Yhwach’s true Identity

.

We are now well over 4 year’s into this arc and Kubo has kept it incredibly tight lipped on what Yhwach’s backstory and motivations are and ultimately why he is doing what he is right now.

Well I believe it’s because to some extent we already know a large part of this but rather than tell it to you, I will just show you in pictoral form and let the penny drop for itself.

.

So without further Adieu, Yhwach’s True Identity is…

.

.

Yeap, that’s right, both Yhwach and Old Man Zangetsu are nothing more than younger versions of

Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto

.

BuckbeardSurprise

.

Like I said, Kubo, the beautiful bastard has hidden that little gem of knowledge Under your very noses (or should I say under their noses)  this entire time.

It’s alright, I will give you a moment to process this

.

bleach-4226505

.

Are you back? ok, let me go through my inner musings.

.

The Almighty theory

The give away was our very first chapter where Yhwach was revealed, Chapter 484. This was called titled Buckbeard, identifying the facial hair was going to play an important part in the overall story.

.

.

This was confirmed when we started noticing his facial hair growing over the course of a number of chapters.

.moustache evolutiion

.

Then in Chapter 565 (God Like You) where Haschwald is talking to Uryuu, it is inferred that Yhwach’s aging is directly related to the amount of souls he is able to absorb. This then suggests he gets stronger as he physically ages (indirectly made by stating he would regress to his former body is he stopped absorbing souls).

.

bleach-4739749

.

So the evolution of Yhwach’s facial hair was a clear indication of him getting stronger as the story progressed.

.

.

What I then tried to do was imagine what he would look like at Full power, aka a really old man and that’s exactly when everything became as clear as day.

With just browsing through various chapters looking for the evolution of his facial hair,  this single page entry from the end of Chapter 505, I could determine he would look like the only pointy nosed long bearded incredibly powerful character in Bleach. Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto.

.

.

Then the other pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place.

DISCLAIMER: Now bear with me, this part is a work in progress and is still being developed with evidence so do get too butt hurt, I just wanted to get this out before anything like this was revealed.

.

Ryujin jakka didn’t turn back into an Asauchi upon Yamamoto’s death, it recognises a connection to an entity currently alive.

.

.
A broken Bankai never returns to the way it was (This explains why their swords are different swords are different).

Yhwach was a title given and not his real name

Yamamoto is the only person who knows how to kill Yhwach.

.

Yhwach and Yamamoto were both defeated with the same type of slash across the same type of place. One could even argue it was the same technique which was used (albeit we didn’t get to see it).

Yamamoto’s turn

and Yhwach’s turn

.

.

It completely explains a lot of why Kubo has been so mysterious with his past.

.

All of a sudden, shit is starting to line up don’t ya think?

.

How is this even possible?

Well I think Bleach is going to start meddling with the time line a lot. We have the Book of the End, The Almighty, The Balance, The Antithesis, Ichigo’s body, The Hogykou, shishiwagarama’s jackpot knuckle and Orihime’s pendants all have the ability to warp reality (some on a grander sense than others). It may even be possible that Aizen’s bankai is not just the manipulation of the senses but reality altogether.

.

  • Some do it in the past
  • Most do it in the present
  • And only one can do it in the future.

.

Realistically thought I think Yhwach is headed to some point in the past, perhaps even 1000 years into the past to finish off what he started back in the day.

But the results all end up with screwing around with the original day 0 timeline, so it’s possible there can be multiple versions of the same character running about, heck we already have Yhwach and Old man Zangetsu and Tensa Zangetsu, different versions of the same character, all existing independently of one another, what’s to say Yamma isn’t another version of that equation?

This could also be linked to the Kaiser Gesang, 900 years, 90 years, 9 years and 9 days. Could it be that each version of Yhwach refers to a different powerset and if they are all combined they form…. Quincy Voltron?

.

juha_bach_yhwach_zangetsu_by_jevonjohnson45-d67yar7

.

Now they appear to be using an free flowing version of the time stream where events that are changed have immediate effect with relatively focussed ripples rather than drastic butterfly effect scenarios. Juts lots of itty bitty changes so far.

We’ve also seen how Yhwach can apparently have a version of ichigo’s powers while ichigo has another version.

Plus the scar on yama’s head along with the scar on tsukishima’s head is very dubious indeed.

.

.

Is it possible that Tsukishima was made to do something to a version of Yhwach in the past to make him forget and become Yamamoto?

We’ve already seen how Tsuki shima can mess with people’s memories and it would also go a long way to understand why he is hated by the Shinigami. He was probably recruited by someone to perform this act on yamamoto but they tried to kill him soon after to wipe away any evidence of his existence? Maybe that was Ginjou’s secret mission all along.

.

I call Bullshit

Like I said, there are a few holes in this one but it isn’t completely outside the realms of possibility the way the story is going at the moment. I mean look at their noses, eyes, mannerisms, heck even the way they sit is pretty similar with only the hair and colour of clothes being inverted..

.

.

.

5870_517013985031132_1970424849_n

I for one know looks aren’t everything when it comes to Kubo’s art style. There were a lot of theories back in the day about Ginjou being related to Aizen because they looked similar and to be honest a lot of the faces in recent chapters between Urahara, Hitsuguya (adult form) and also Ichigo have all looked very similar.

Maybe the real 4th level secret is Kubo only has like 5 different faces he can draw and this set just happens to be one of them.

.

.

Personally it just strikes me odd that this facial hair has been growing all this time and we’ve yet to understand exactly why this is the case. If for me feels like Kubo’s version of doing a character unmasking in a way which really shocks people and is also very subtle. instead of revealing he is someone, he shows he actually ends up becoming someone.

Also the most interesting thing is wouldn’t be interesting to reveal a character’s backstory by actually revealing their future? Especially since this is a character who’s powers are based around the ability to manipulate the future. I think that is somewhat poetic, don’t ya think?

.

Let me know what you think?

Any who, let me know what you think about this theory and we will try to flesh it out in the comments section.

Thanks for sharing and I hope this makes the final chapters of bleach a little bit more enjoyable, with us trying to figure out what Kubo is planning, rather than sitting in Despair, like our leading lady, Ichigo.

Tara Folks.

My other Theories

As you may or may not be aware, I have a few other theories on this place with regards to Bleach, Ichigo and Yhwach. If you would like to have a look at them, please see below.
