What are people worth to you?

So you look at desire and what does it come down to, Worth.

Unfortunately we are pretty bad at determining a person’s true worth and we use all the old tricks in the book to make super quick snap judgements of one another. Sometimes because that’s the way we’ve been programmed to do it for survival, sometimes because of social conditioning, mostly because we are too fucking lazy to put the hard work in. Because of this, we end up generalising on the physical immediately and forsake everything else.

So just going by this, wouldn’t it be great to have something that doesn’t reduce others to their lowest common denominator immediately and you instead have to judge them on their true credentials by getting to know them?

Since forever we have been subjugating each other based on physical appearance. Would removing that snap judgement element straight away, even out the playing field, allowing true traits, such as personality, demeanour, candour and spirit to come to the surface? Would that not make society a little bit more equal?

I’m a firm believer that when you are not being distracted so much by what a person looks like, you are more likely to get an essence of their character. This isn’t to say picking up these traits would be easier, since the majority of our communications still comes through body language, however, when armed with the appropriate skills, you can gather much more about a person when not blinded immediately by sight.
